I adore fantasy and historical designs and I have chosen this as my Project Dollway theme for 2008. The Steampunk genre has moved into high fashion, and is finding its way into mainstream teen fashion today. My intention is to bring this fashion to the street wear. I shall water down the sever gothy version into a mt own fashion. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGwTOmTv4uBcn9pMXoxB5BIXrQ7YJ4JgBn4bqUIRww53KNqFOzFEfKjMzs9EXmSAfRX8Ta9icYmIEI2WANKw46S9lZo15s7Zc6V8ArEjTbRs2IEwGZued-8ld0fa8gHriGyGO4BMbmDU4/s1600-h/f2.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5269795667125166018" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGwTOmTv4uBcn9pMXoxB5BIXrQ7YJ4JgBn4bqUIRww53KNqFOzFEfKjMzs9EXmSAfRX8Ta9icYmIEI2WANKw46S9lZo15s7Zc6V8ArEjTbRs2IEwGZued-8ld0fa8gHriGyGO4BMbmDU4/s400/f2.JPG" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCnWJOxKNJr8jPpjM9LzuBXWoJ1OD37zCPNIUayDO2yOxA_QL6RZ5FVGT_TZQvds124w2GWNuH6WNQ7bQppSyNvtPPWoJCaqs0Z6gBEEW7IuHtk2ZwY1Z4m7rHgoFyOBaNvurWAkl_PnQ/s1600-h/back1.JPG"></a></span><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd3s3tqK0RnYlGya-EI0e79BSIONU-MMDVUzl-P0nYM74V5u6MlJw5j6u1kFOpjDy5dfqtn2hA_NkU-ct6LMUxLwktCi29q3dHnAwM3PRbBthm_YxFUF1tQgityyWcyInAUcz07lEUq5w/s1600-h/f9.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5269795289596291122" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd3s3tqK0RnYlGya-EI0e79BSIONU-MMDVUzl-P0nYM74V5u6MlJw5j6u1kFOpjDy5dfqtn2hA_NkU-ct6LMUxLwktCi29q3dHnAwM3PRbBthm_YxFUF1tQgityyWcyInAUcz07lEUq5w/s400/f9.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:arial;">My collection will embody elements of Neo-Edwardian historical styling, with various alterations for the mad science/ time traveler that tends to characterize steampunk. I have created a fun leather aviator helmet and goggles as an accent piece. </span><span style="font-family:arial;"><br />To bring into the vintage aspect to this challenge I designed leg of mutton sleeve on the blouse made of pale lime green taffeta silk. Another element bringing in the Victorian element is a stylized corset in a very narrow stripe. The mid calf length skirt is styled to look like it is riding pants with a decorative accent panel topstitched at the hem and on the panel. Topstitching is another detail I hope to carry throughout this collection.<br /></span><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5267492644513274226" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 290px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYB2VwKk-7wCn8ubxv-Lcd_S4XL8nvelKfz0REKG6_M5LSPL2qAbb_NJof4f8WhX4iAABY9_QKVqVThRgMfCcxB-PjTiJELpudzbR-0CtL2ijl6MvZBB_Uo4lmt2UOvj6MBedJtbHZrk8/s320/DSCN8496.JPG" border="0" /><span style="font-family:arial;">Another element that will run thru the collection is the use of leather. I use leather on a very short bolero vest sporting a razor back and topstitching.<br />To finished out the outfit I created a “Letter Carrier” style leather shoulder bag to match the vest. A small lapel pin exhibits another ingredient of steampunk, cogs and wheels, representing time and future.</span> <strong><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5267486363509333570" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpiQvVmUHr2Ys3dbr1BRllXWxXSDAuibvmB8NrktS_2-ktQqzzN0M0gXTi9RiBBazWz1dz_eEvQJ5EkuJGx_UFH8rUMani5t8bBoDPCNs7Bp9Ud03SPsn8xewxp9onnanEAbTaKRReXmo/s400/d2.JPG" border="0" /> <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5269794750915137282" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgx2VFVNVybdpLpaXBSrCF7GOyhJQkyDOl7r-6drhKifn0o8iRAaWZih9kCBALztAWHnlm9lEI34SMkYs6UGJzqFt6tN5iR2pEWMS_CojUqyXEnP61YxKSKtr_cR0fqs5uXhNbnBJ3aYhY/s400/back1.JPG" border="0" /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5267493108020426914" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 254px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrg7wP_oAGTOnRFGmcJliVFM4iOXA2mYNImLsfQRb-xfd_42KSbkmt9oppHze6X6fTTzQPoXbfomFzCyngfemOYpRUB_GYfDdiYaNYufT08Iz7k4LL8ccQ25nPLexKtibtJ2cgTorfHjs/s400/untitled.bmp" border="0" /></strong> <span style="font-family:arial;"><br /></span><br /><br /><br /><br /></span><br /><br /><span style="font-family:arial;"></span></div></div></div></div></div>darlingdivadurellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15535551944193332511noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8623800063780554801.post-59681350274220591742008-10-14T17:50:00.001-07:002008-10-26T20:04:46.009-07:002008 Egyptian Collection<div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCe9NgXPxmOGGIDn0yy7okqtgh-5ZdOTySidbo2ubcGaEJckJKip_e341SczFmCZOiRd5km7oPTAGcp7u5BrB_a2H1VddxfeUk2XpLJWQrYOuOcvuPG9UukKgrDQGSHfrgGi4zPZTwVcU/s1600-h/egyptian+girls.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257184580714086818" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCe9NgXPxmOGGIDn0yy7okqtgh-5ZdOTySidbo2ubcGaEJckJKip_e341SczFmCZOiRd5km7oPTAGcp7u5BrB_a2H1VddxfeUk2XpLJWQrYOuOcvuPG9UukKgrDQGSHfrgGi4zPZTwVcU/s400/egyptian+girls.jpg" border="0" /></a> <span style="font-family:arial;">Because I felt like I did not have the room on the last post to show off some of my Egyptian collection, prepared especially for the IFDC, I am featuring them now. I like to base my collections on a theme that is an element of the convention. One I can also hone my skills so I can base a workshop around. This year I did an Egyptian Accessory workshop. I taught how to make the beaded necklaces shown on my collection dolls. Shown here are a few of my girls some are still available and for sale. I am still trying to catch up and have not done web pages for each of them yet. (Put it on the list) This year at IFDC Jim thought it would be fun to stir a little competition during the event tables and created a contest for the best centerpiece each night. Well if you know me you know I LOVE a contest challenge. We share our table host duties with a different hostess each night taking the helm. My event night was …you guessed it, Anthony and Cleopatra. Can you tell I worked my collection, workshop and table center piece all around this, one of my favorite subjects? <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5261663922896617506" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhziIdgP4sdvK17MIqrGqa1_LEAf_ngURso5TckcnsZ5ow49ND0V1HK4jj-701wNwKdEdPhRsa2aZeLJzA0WRtJO9mnsrYbCufZz0a-sdPSr-VozppDHyRmGuF3B0AMOJGqbB7jqrFN1hA/s400/DSCN9244.JPG" border="0" /><br />Here are some of the pictures of our table that night… Oh and BTW, we did win that night for BEST table! This will be much different than last years Project DollWay. Much more casual and relaxed and anyone can “PLAY”. My dear dolly friend Gabby is hosting the project and it will begin in just one week. So if you are interested, rev it up and join us for the dolly fun. </span><br /><div><div><div><div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><span style="font-family:verdana;color:#003300;"><a href="http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=414135773&MyToken=93afc4b0-82b5-470e-be7a-65390de70bb8">http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=414135773&MyToken=93afc4b0-82b5-470e-be7a-65390de70bb8</a></span><span style="font-family:verdana;color:#003300;"><br />Since my last blog entry I have stayed very dolly busy. I was very inspired by the Ellowyne Wilde doll. I adore this doll and her beguiling face and attitude. This captivation motivated me to create a new branch of “Demi-Divas” called “Chic Indulgence” which is OOAK Re-movable doll clothing line for Ellowyne. My first launch outfit was “Maddly Plaidly” and as luck would have it was purchased by Jill Jackson who is the editor of “Doll Reader".</div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257158670683373698" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEij1aYL5dkPs8MyI-Wxap3Pvuxpp9i2U-KC-fFMzPbfJa1z8nkCEKVXkDlsLkgoDc2t89b15ZF8wwLl_3LPh6Z1B2QD0wvy9xbBNLuf-8Vjdq8s1t7gTpB8PTc5HdbHJ4LAcWHOmviqenc/s200/doll+reader+p1.JPG" border="0" /> <a href="http://demi-divasbydurelle.50megs.com/chic/mad/mp.html">http://demi-divasbydurelle.50megs.com/chic/mad/mp.html</a> </span></div><div><span style="font-family:verdana;color:#003300;"><div>She has also been spellbound by the charm of Ellowyne and was so impressed with the out fit that she did a 4 page feature of it in the August issue of “Doll Reader”… I was shocked and thrilled. She has become a good friend and a wonderful contact. I also did a simple outfit for Jill’s Ellowyne to take along with her on her summer vacation. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257153459076452594" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-gdzqK5Aae2jyN-T3Rt49x6HRdFmdvglzo9z1Q1HrjYfGI2Mk2daAhGkDAbn36JtKwJIA774UGtV1GbQNOkAKH4zHpuaJs1OKAHauUlSJVnwqFrCU4uIQaS_nQ7FzrlhFz4Te0GbtBiQ/s400/DSCN9457.JPG" border="0" /> With all of Mother Natural’s tragedy happening in the USA this past year, a group of doll artist and collectors came together under the name of “Dollyhearts for USA” to established a series of charity auctions using Ellowyne to support this causes. Each auction featured a popular repaint doll artist who would repaint a doll and other doll artist created a wardrobe for her. I was pleased to be apart of this effort. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257153945658250530" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinJUXOAtrFJfStHoHcovoh4-51ZZkRNw3gVo3hxuU_9IbhFSbiRttfw39Qoz5cXfRJhgXqLI6xUyHtBzccdduGviOaGj1nmGrWsNxHLdWDXjLNeDBkXFkjeth5RVYaRWvMDEjlZwhUjf0/s400/DSCN9551.JPG" border="0" /></div><div></div><div>For one of the auctions I created a very prissy Ellowyne Pirate costume fashion in all pinks, oranges and white. I won! I am still in shock... but thrilled.<br />This was a fun challenge for me.<br />This challenge was about designing a “Collection” and creating one garment that would embody all of the elements the collection would contain. Those elements are color, pattern, and a theme. This was to be commercially viable and suite a wide range of 16” dolls. The garment would not be limited to any particular type or style so we were wide open to interpret it just as we wanted.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjur9p1w8ubU67FKWltcab7xfNnyA_ymotDZtV_S0uoOHDCMNmn2lzQl4Mqu-a9UdPyXPf22GBRCY4nBrLyJh5MBIcEBXjjxh2aGum8cC2eyXg6erQPO1goy-5C-_6D8yKNZbZyNVGZhQ8/s1600-h/h1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5162568919591808450" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjur9p1w8ubU67FKWltcab7xfNnyA_ymotDZtV_S0uoOHDCMNmn2lzQl4Mqu-a9UdPyXPf22GBRCY4nBrLyJh5MBIcEBXjjxh2aGum8cC2eyXg6erQPO1goy-5C-_6D8yKNZbZyNVGZhQ8/s320/h1.jpg" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFTp-sYXZQ91ud1iwsb4RwWvYOnOacHskq17BZv9bIY2UzKKZy2dkok6dQRfhN0T_iSOAJ0dh9yPebCnJcw503zmQokJVy2ymWNv47HsXv4icxEhXhYDL_WS1mQ2ReDZRKuSyEICV4gU0/s1600-h/h2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5162568679073639858" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFTp-sYXZQ91ud1iwsb4RwWvYOnOacHskq17BZv9bIY2UzKKZy2dkok6dQRfhN0T_iSOAJ0dh9yPebCnJcw503zmQokJVy2ymWNv47HsXv4icxEhXhYDL_WS1mQ2ReDZRKuSyEICV4gU0/s320/h2.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div align="center"><br /></span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;">I was tired of working in drab colors and I knew going in to it I was going to use the brightest and prettiest colors I could imaging. I am a huge fan of Orange, yet I know from experience that not may people like Orange. I wanted to use it so I figured I could only use it as an accent and use Pink as my anchor color for this design. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5162569808650038754" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioGjhf5McO-wfdYy3ufnpt6Fpghyphenhyphenpgs_n21Ok93OSEapk3iG0rGlJ3gcB7vbwqL_x6IHs4VnQgNfjNkn2hMDwwMiX8CAOPxH02Zky1PjuU4LGS9rHvglQ8Y8FJvKSvIcPxvZnhE_yAe0o/s400/f1.jpg" border="0" /> I wanted a fresh YOUNG look, something teens are likely to be wearing this spring.<br />I had in my fabric stash a wonderful pleated tiedye print (remember I love orange and buy it whenever I see it cause it is hard to find). It had all the fresh colors I wanted for the collection. I knew this print element could flow through the collection as scarves, blouses, and accents. On this garment I use it as an over skirt to the pink dress. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKeg03CXmMxI9lDiJKnNMmJxVrtFqgk_jUDVlue50h7T89-2LYZhGsjJHlkijg5E831GkIFxeDNS2o14cjNFzeguM6VZWeaaYHCDeAiGEOrxu4jsNx7Ph4xPg8BbEcM3oPu7m2ugvnzik/s1600-h/f1.jpg"></a><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5162567751360703890" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJUtmRazWIPb3ox-gZT6dYxhIL8MDDWpOtVX7iKYQE89vnwO7vBl_b94uive0f1nwzt8qOK1PTqsa4gBi-84xziQWYQqtvVw7UBdtSUBi7FoO7lO7eLAEqEAuSCDg4hLUcnDuBbT2yxME/s320/details+acc.jpg" border="0" /> I wanted a juxtaposition of elements - bold and graphic yet soft and feminine. The graphic element is the purse, the waist band and the banding on the hem of the pencil dress and straps. This banding could easily adapt to any number of garments through out the collection. Because I had these strong color element going, (Orange, Pink, Hot pink and Cream) that gives me ample opportunities to accomplish this task. </div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5162567553792208258" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXJLsYQwkxbJi-CXBz3KsMYKJHCiAuYPUuEVA3ZTmgo4BmViGgo9tw4fv56L7ILAEiJMknEp78BsIGoab3CP96Mcmt1TLnbMtuq95FJJBwr38isTcfSNNctP733OJRxL45lurtCn5-l-Y/s320/detail.jpg" border="0" /><br />My finial garment is very charming and I knew exactly which doll should be modeling it for me, Tonner’s Cinderella. She is adorable and sweet just like the dress which I have come to call, “Pink an Pretty”. </span><br /><br /><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:130%;"></span><br /><br /><br /><div align="center"><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:130%;">Your can see all the compitition here.......and Alexendra's critiques.</span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:130%;">What she said about my design.....</span></div><div align="center">DESIGN THREE - Beautiful colors and patterns. Strong silhouette. This is an excellent single key piece in a collection. What I really like is the purse which picks up the color scheme but also introduces a more tailored theme in the stripes. The purse is a perfect hint of what might come next.</div><p align="center"><a href="http://alexandrasragtime.blogspot.com/2008/01/congratulations-durelle.html">http://alexandrasragtime.blogspot.com/2008/01/congratulations-durelle.html</a></p><div align="center"> </div><br /><div align="center"></div>darlingdivadurellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15535551944193332511noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8623800063780554801.post-5022117945822548622008-01-18T19:16:00.000-08:002008-01-18T20:00:40.522-08:00Challenge # 9<div align="center"><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:180%;color:#009900;">The Erte' Challenge</span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:180%;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5157025503419134818" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPkvJX96Opy7Wcky6Uzwm8L8pIia3OrQKyEDrYWPCCOq_aRvnx8GT2Kns1cz2Pgu7fAKUTIGhjnQVEvKp6Mv0MXcLs4w7RTWD__sixWjy74rzSixJ0QZgNUgeFb9rCttlSgM442MHRX1o/s400/2.jpg" border="0" /></span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family:arial;">This has been one of my favorite challenges, since I am primarily known for my costume and fantasy design, this challenge was more to my talent and my love. Erte’ has long been one of my very favorite illustrators and artist. I did have a few books on Erte’ in my personal library which made my research a lot easier. </div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5157026246448477042" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNyQOsATkjbxIM9RZcXVN4SZzAY_ktXbAUL0-dm9ocCC0jOCmx2ekwRQVmoAEwyrDBiCrl2XEiNeobzlSKT-ebtRwPppgK54pEYkLWSyga-CxJd5eXK189Xx5lYCI1nW-yE8Hkh41RVnw/s400/3a.jpg" border="0" /> After studying his design style I discovered many design elements I was in love with. More than I could possibly include in one design, so I weeding out the best which was quit a task for myself. I knew from the first I would NOT be designing a wearable contemporary garment that was removable. So I took a lot of liberties that the other home designer’s would not be taking. In my <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBe1t9qT-3shf3wkZTNOIe2kKcULwTU7Xc65mQSNx5gddscngEmoBZA0HfNfFa1F_vh_pqgkKC8CcQxz4k-g4E4RpMJLDzYBcIMnEU6keVQEV3ggyHJhOHe63fgof3Oo3Ro0wf078VHXs/s1600-h/4.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5157026469786776450" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBe1t9qT-3shf3wkZTNOIe2kKcULwTU7Xc65mQSNx5gddscngEmoBZA0HfNfFa1F_vh_pqgkKC8CcQxz4k-g4E4RpMJLDzYBcIMnEU6keVQEV3ggyHJhOHe63fgof3Oo3Ro0wf078VHXs/s200/4.jpg" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiILURQqRnQQJbXsH-U1kOkV5KBzhhi0-iwZAKwcx7fepS4VBa1yeaDgoCwJ5fHalhw_cJI0qBuTtq5DHHvpdmilK1d78ND0QJavt7SraQTFbQ7H6FgLwVBBslPmaQ3eALwQCoaHD_wrmE/s1600-h/6.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5157026761844552610" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiILURQqRnQQJbXsH-U1kOkV5KBzhhi0-iwZAKwcx7fepS4VBa1yeaDgoCwJ5fHalhw_cJI0qBuTtq5DHHvpdmilK1d78ND0QJavt7SraQTFbQ7H6FgLwVBBslPmaQ3eALwQCoaHD_wrmE/s200/6.jpg" border="0" /></a><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5157026607225729938" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGlPpaPCQAn7gelqQGBpiGV62TuYO7UVOTrVVGkZ_FDazyQn5YE9lO-F_DC0aRKCIl0ZJDdU_7U2xewDTrfkpQqhMMurT6wD_f9it3XIa1QuF7LlLsthdyhwEUzP5QI2FJCQ0zZZ9aY7k/s200/5.jpg" border="0" />mind it was not to win but to create a design that I would really like.<br />One of Erte’s strong design elements is Asian. The kimono sleeve is evident in a lot of his drawings and I knew this would be something I wanted for my design too. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5157026968002982834" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpQ4ec0ZCVPpdIPlSrTDKAwZwhqDeBCjn0NCUqC0yASM_Zb_lGWCklDanCaaEo3-58XF7MtpzGA1U5f28Oy2vvJYsMO5YfGzJQSWFT1S62IjSNLWndUICmdJBtvfFP1krhOGdldkqCclw/s400/7.jpg" border="0" /> <p align="center">Another interesting thing he does a lot is continuing or merging one garment element to evolve into another such as my skirt hem becoming my kimono sleeve. There is so much going in Erte’s drawings you have to really dissect each one and study it closely. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHwJXQD1Ufb4iQ-RUJUgBKHTkPqveOg7MqmxC8FTL5QKVllCI_EGtjV4jES3wwOG30LghOizRhUq6y9NjjrHKNsPxncjpszTgge5WH7QEQii-p6axk2LuaODE33vdr9Qu5KzdBSntike4/s1600-h/detail3.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5157024021655417650" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHwJXQD1Ufb4iQ-RUJUgBKHTkPqveOg7MqmxC8FTL5QKVllCI_EGtjV4jES3wwOG30LghOizRhUq6y9NjjrHKNsPxncjpszTgge5WH7QEQii-p6axk2LuaODE33vdr9Qu5KzdBSntike4/s200/detail3.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9O-YRCmPcaabjhyphenhyphenD2KffVlX1BOc-RFevS872m-B2ZktHiLCp1-HiOoQLVz4DiPDxxF48HQLj-kqzY9sFjMddVmx-Bp92O9b6jGtZZFq7Wh1TdZWuUKHc2hQT6eGsgp6tQYbIcyEpiCKQ/s1600-h/detail4.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5157023897101366050" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9O-YRCmPcaabjhyphenhyphenD2KffVlX1BOc-RFevS872m-B2ZktHiLCp1-HiOoQLVz4DiPDxxF48HQLj-kqzY9sFjMddVmx-Bp92O9b6jGtZZFq7Wh1TdZWuUKHc2hQT6eGsgp6tQYbIcyEpiCKQ/s200/detail4.jpg" border="0" /></a>The next element I found most intriguing is how he folds one fabric into another and slips a panel into the next intertwining, flipping, folding and lacing fabrics and panels together. I did some of this too. By folding back bodice pieces to revel contrast fabric at the neck and an unusual angled point under the arm, as well as the contrast lining on the skirt showing as the back of the sleeve element.<br />When I completed my design was compelled to do some beading…. which I have all but abandon during the DollWay Projects (due to time restraints). Beading is so much fun and is to me therapeutic. Most who know me, know me for my costuming and fantasy. The Fashion Royalty girls are very realistic and sophisticated and want real looking detail clothing. The doll has very large breast and a tiny waist so fitting her was a night mare, for me.<br />The challenge was to create a center piece garment in a new collection for the FR line. With the Designers point of view – not Jason’s (who is the dolls creator) but ours!<br />The collection is call “joie de vivre” or the Joy of Life. With the centerpiece set titled:”Clair de Lune” or Moonlight.<br />I have completely OVER thought this challenge to the point of madness and not wanting do anything AT ALL. But I started this journey and I am going to complete it. </span></div><span style="font-family:arial;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5152196675983209074" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUw-2LvLwN-P-PEDlC4aMkUrxrPs6mVxHkC0x0-3hAW2HC8aSrATGzOJr5et7vQ3nUgRcgIBtbB7ccgTEhglPvt1kC1wuVTmaBixhJLhMXfoZyXTiyTH2HgzQ7N9x8fOvn4MFPTPCpfoM/s400/moon1.jpg" border="0" />(this is the truest color of the fabric)<br /><div><br />My first thoughts were Joy.... what makes me happy...or joyous.. my kids.. well that wont work! Ahhhh... yes... leisure time... vacations so my thoughts turned to how I could fit that into my FR challenge.<br />I am thinking a cruise.. Romantic moon light strolls on the deck with the blue Caribbean water reflecting the moon. I pursued for about a week the idea of a sporty white outfit with accents in Caribbean blue... I imagined the ocean breeze blowing across the model with her scarf blowing freely. This took on a simple nautical feeling in white and blue. My first idea was to create a dress with pleats all in white very full to blow freely like the scarf. So I drafted the pattern and began my execution. This doll is hard to fit.. I had to abandon my design I could not get her to look good in it or fit this design well. After all that pleating on white fabric I dumped it! White was wrong anyway I lamented to myself. Joyous but no moonlight... hmmmmmmm....</div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5152197122659807874" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTgirsjPoGf6GQYS0MDTvlauvmD9ag6k5RxkHkKndoDxkjcQIE5MW-RajfPnQvn9TEM3d_vHLK9zvKADZQf_rXcmhO2nI080pn_Xyul6gOKxJjxnwhqXazqM8huMXQJyDS_NBwC9gmM0c/s400/dhalf.jpg" border="0" /> <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5152197414717584018" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVCedIfPSMtrTRvXQioh77Vp9xNFrrD64LIBJhvpyYXLzEl1eASJpsT6x01EupL7-5NNLhyHevvFSoBV7rBcH2fbWXDV-GH80oPn_iM77ISEfKc0IRz8RsylcSxxx6NMRxDLt3P9LYGug/s400/1r.jpg" border="0" /> I had found some delightful print Caribbean blue sheer fabric for my scarf. It is yummmmy.... nice hand and flows well. The color will read very blue not black yet strong and dark. Ok, back to my thoughts ... romantic stroll on the deck of a cruise ship.... Somthing smple and elegant, I know how impossible it is to create a ruffle on a doll this size to look good but the design in my head called for just that. That meant I was going to have to “Natizi” my fabric to do my bidding. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEin6H_QgnNa1DcYa1Of5K79MEfuiU5M-4s6_7m3Rm7wPifgJkQJUqE9MG2fTcxqUvT8hhKPG_mUvDBB-lMvSbzkz6Zd-LFCGPTHgv_jZLQpfqzy6Psm29EdljIeTziPd2TXT6Y59q4GJ8Q/s1600-h/2r.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5152198033192874674" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEin6H_QgnNa1DcYa1Of5K79MEfuiU5M-4s6_7m3Rm7wPifgJkQJUqE9MG2fTcxqUvT8hhKPG_mUvDBB-lMvSbzkz6Zd-LFCGPTHgv_jZLQpfqzy6Psm29EdljIeTziPd2TXT6Y59q4GJ8Q/s400/2r.jpg" border="0" /></a> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEM9W-4P6E7wfQAJRN0scYjo_JwC2Z_W9XH7Gbtuhj74DK9jg_wxUgpWY4XtbVjDl2_LPrcHHHp9fpOBODpz-wYnbgrXCINRHjXqM6wJNatpOOLAVs209HEnmVjEgYnIo6xPwS4NfXoZI/s1600-h/3r.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5152198243646272194" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEM9W-4P6E7wfQAJRN0scYjo_JwC2Z_W9XH7Gbtuhj74DK9jg_wxUgpWY4XtbVjDl2_LPrcHHHp9fpOBODpz-wYnbgrXCINRHjXqM6wJNatpOOLAVs209HEnmVjEgYnIo6xPwS4NfXoZI/s400/3r.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div>The thing I have most enjoyed about the Dollway journey has been that I am stretching myself as a doll designer. I know I said it but... it did not happen. So I am scurrying around trying to finish before the dead line. I can say she is MOSTLY done ..yea...<br />I did complete my design on time. But I am afraid all I did was what I jokingly dubbed to my doll friends as a “Pretty Dress”. And I do believe that it is Just a pretty dress. only I can understand the relationship to the challenge.<br />I have to say also that this doll was hard to pose, for her photo shoot, she is loose and would not cooperate with my manipulations. She is also a wigged doll and I fussed a lot with keeping it on her head and could not make a decision on which wig to use. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5152196014558245458" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhtfUC_FLNbxJe1QZfm9qwXa2svZcbrtfBBw4Skw0GjFzyOn1I2fP9AoT7xjMJpxBeZkoEqiJC9n_4Fxoowc66VXC3o48U1PHGdM59SHHkIx8-pyjC1L6ZIAbKdLQ04yP9JGWt4seg51g/s400/DESIGNDURELLE.jpg" border="0" /><br />I think I made this challenge far harder than it had to be. I also was not interested in doing the challenge exactly by all the guidelines (doll) this time, because in the end I wanted to have a beautiful doll.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5142934018072978514" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm3X3llXxard10SD8oautBzdQjObML6x9ULX3YL1dJ8Kx7JsFEjHXCC2MGQjT-Gp1VgtdJYyVArJdkFUuW3wpkDFV0qqGp8wNdB-E6HAMasSKh_Wk_Q8-APurrNh-eptVkS8byZbpHKLk/s400/half3.JPG" border="0" /> I started a cocoon coat a few years back and lost interest in doing it when a new challenge presented itself. So when I told a coworker about this challenge she suggested <strong>“Sunset Boulevard”</strong> I snapped up that suggestion knowing it would give me another chance to play with that design idea again. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5142936066772378786" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaJtjPQa13U6Ofw5g12lR_IqBHckAS8uR-pJnHLgjK3nHTpKnObOEggT-lJrSGYy7wnLQWUadDfVCGUPnz-WYxofnSnImwmQ7ayvhUubwGLVbkxy_sVDrmkp8lqoS9espPU9l6yo-GWfI/s400/fullr.jpg" border="0" />When I first attempted (years ago) to do this design my fabric choice was just too heavy + my intention was to douche it in fur which made it sooo bulky. But now I have a chance to rethink and redesign. I tore my doll room apart to find the old project but I must have dumped it ..Luckily TED was gratuitous enough to give us the challenge early to research I was able to design and sew on my day off (Sunday). The biggest part of that day was designing the cocoon coat. Knowing the one I did before was a failure I could take some short cuts I would not have normally. Luckily the first mockup I made looked perfect and my test was out of some odd silk I had so I have a coat to spare, which I gave to Dot. I only had to tweak the hem line to get some additional drama I was looking for. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5142935143354410098" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBh2ru0oqdoGOB9oYpdV1LktZirsSSiPne58lM874LqzZtUpaNTGzzIxlZgdlUNeSiNk7ZBD0q_K0nedDCEJEp7zQd9P-GLPnwM41YfgYkJXopKrDViUlfKVNxUFX3C5yWVHmurU8fPlg/s400/back.jpg" border="0" /><br />Early on I knew I was <strong>not</strong> going to use the Alex doll even though I had one. She is not articulated. I am so spoiled now I will not do a big doll with out actuation. I also knew to get the dramatic stance I wanted to project the character the doll would have to be articulated. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5142935315153101954" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGjO4gZwiYTMegiYglJn253nsXASbIfOoscPCg7SpMvyfnC9upqu1KY-3OS5qxLI07QchS-mFEOyLOkXZ5vtxBlSe3Ql9WDFEm0FzgpiFZBfQL9SJJL-2XDMwV5jq_qdqJPyO5BozWji0/s400/back+half.JPG" border="0" /> I love this period in textile design but to get the really drapey effect on a small doll is not an easy task. So off I go on Monday’s lunch break to find silk georgette. No luck. So back to my fabric stashes...I did find the fabric I had for my original project and hoped I could get it to do my bidding.<br />I draped the dress mostly on the doll with out a pattern. The skirt is simply 3 half circles with an inset of silk down the front. After attaching the skirt it was not draping happily for me. So my next step was to my happy Rowenta Iron.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5142934331605591138" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjefnNxzYwe8WFfc7i_iBp7WFppyGCc9BDYS3YLWlGMBt8dUGLlgeXrRx5NYgY53yB7jWGP3EfkTzMeLGlsadC7HCA9eqBIFnAnMKJ4Fnohf0UKd5Y3C0uVROuc2RroR3Vo5J4EgpaFO_k/s320/pleats.JPG" border="0" /><br />With pins and steam I stretched the bias of the skirt and created lots of little pleats. When complete I was thrilled for the skirt contentedly snugged into the body of the doll for the silhouette I was hoping for. One thing I have been thankful for doing PDW is that I have been doing a lot of experiments due to time restraints. Lucky for me experiments like this one has been successful and has added tools to my sewing arsenal.<br /><br />Another truth about this doll is she is NOT finished. This doll “Screams” for beading and it is my intention to go back and add a lot of beading detail. Jim Farone has ask me to donate an OOAK for the Live Auction benefiting Children with Aids at this summers IFDC. This is the doll that I will be donating. </span></p><p><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5142937076089693362" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisZC8cAsOP_GU53QQeq9P1sO0ImISN-8UO65LornRLpkKwt-exgkq6bwev_tpAHOrOXy2yINgNVpJ93A7qyy1VKB8f7huuaK4ZC1VygN2wkrXBZ7aQS8cW39C8A3aM09UMytgpp5MJ0uI/s320/cigie.jpg" border="0" /><br />There were some questions on the group about where I got the cigarette the doll holds. Well I made it and it was so easy any one can do this. I used a round Tooth pick and cut off one pointy end.<br />I always keep black nail polish in my doll craft cart It comes in very handy for soooo many doll projects you would not believe. I painted the whole tooth pick black and when it dried I simply dipped the end of it in the bottle of white paint to what I thought would be a good size for a cigarette. When that dried I dipped just the end into a puddle of gold paint.<br />Sooooooo easy...right?</span></p><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5142935740354864274" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu6shVLgX4-Onjv-sJgpjumxye1NnY9fkZbDxikAvkyLFd9BkTuD-8CZ0xOB9e9bw3uFk7oRE7Whja9t4CXufjJitbjThxFlnqCPlnEDuOyBWuBT9SlS-uUXDlfGZe2YcBU9zatmN7K-w/s400/mink.JPG" border="0" /> </p><p align="center"><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:180%;color:#cc9933;">Dollie-ON,</span></p><p align="center"><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:180%;color:#cc9933;">Durelle</span></p>darlingdivadurellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15535551944193332511noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8623800063780554801.post-15723953312159776362007-12-08T15:46:00.000-08:002007-12-08T16:11:47.003-08:00Alex challenge.... aye aye aye,,,,<div align="center"><a href="http://www.projectdollway.com/Alex%20Challenge%20Runway.html"><strong>http://www.projectdollway.com/Alex%20Challenge%20Runway.html</strong></a></div><div align="center"></div><div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFPvHJb6l7AFKVkGXM_NAeEZFPyH_l1770aKaY5deb7FTr-lzyozsp6GmpaQcL4dXH6xw6_QpbW6tit5lixj2Ssz18VP43JActx7kfOb1XZ2XMnevkvV-Y2DzZcoBD2MGCNzDYjG44c3U/s1600-h/Alex_Brenda_Icon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5141753121109910434" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFPvHJb6l7AFKVkGXM_NAeEZFPyH_l1770aKaY5deb7FTr-lzyozsp6GmpaQcL4dXH6xw6_QpbW6tit5lixj2Ssz18VP43JActx7kfOb1XZ2XMnevkvV-Y2DzZcoBD2MGCNzDYjG44c3U/s200/Alex_Brenda_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></a> <span style="font-family:arial;">My #1 pick this week is Brenda... I am so proud to give her “MY#1” position. When the thumbnails came up on my computer screen and all the designs were revealed on one page I was immediately struck by the silhouette and colors of her design without ever looking at who, what, when or where. This is a treasure in the design mix. What I have admired about Brenda from day one of this competition is that, she is 'True to Herself' and her design style. She found the perfect movie and character to suite her style and created a dramatic and beautiful solution. Bravo Brenda...yea!!!<br /></span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family:arial;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgttZOgHlTlqgiQ06SoW7T8a2rOmouPQxVWZRBM97L0SRGM0gQKWxzAKDeF_C1bJ88JnAPq4yot8-kQWOb055bFxbEAFJ7VwgH93iNZI1FuspVxkerPCB31myYrJB4EI9ujr11flx2d8e4/s1600-h/Alex_Debbie_Icon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5141753202714289074" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgttZOgHlTlqgiQ06SoW7T8a2rOmouPQxVWZRBM97L0SRGM0gQKWxzAKDeF_C1bJ88JnAPq4yot8-kQWOb055bFxbEAFJ7VwgH93iNZI1FuspVxkerPCB31myYrJB4EI9ujr11flx2d8e4/s200/Alex_Debbie_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Another in my top 3 was Debbie... again.. She accepted the challenge and solved the puzzle. The sheer poke-a-dots were delightful and I loved the short gloves and pearls. I love the way Debbie has her design styled on her blog. And I agree “Why oh why would Ted not choose to use an articulated doll over the straight arms?” The white collar and full skirt on this dress speak “ICON” to me and very 50” But I saw no need for the ribbon shawl. <a href="http://debbie-frenchdressing.blogspot.com/">http://debbie-frenchdressing.blogspot.com/</a><br /></span></div><span style="font-family:arial;"><p><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQVurl1AcytLIaxaJLeS5b0owkpYe61Xrf-L_XmK1CJlD56YSSwEvhFuBtY3ejHCtU8Wzkw4bvhKy-qhyphenhyphenj9BeHfLT8i_NlqLEFLKk_vtTyCCjCtyp_GNr7DV5ClAR17tZjqBXJIBgIbT4/s1600-h/Alex_Judith_Icon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5141753284318667714" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQVurl1AcytLIaxaJLeS5b0owkpYe61Xrf-L_XmK1CJlD56YSSwEvhFuBtY3ejHCtU8Wzkw4bvhKy-qhyphenhyphenj9BeHfLT8i_NlqLEFLKk_vtTyCCjCtyp_GNr7DV5ClAR17tZjqBXJIBgIbT4/s200/Alex_Judith_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></a>Always in my top 3 is Judith. This week I am a little worried that the dress has come off as a period piece and not as contemporary as the movie. BUT.... WOW.....the FIT...! the COLOR...! The DETAIL.. The jewelry is perfection. How can you not love it. Again on her blog the garments styling is a much better representative of her design concept than the runway show. Great job Judith!<br />Thank you designers who have blogs I adore reading your blogs on how you solved the design challenges and how your garment were intended to be styled. <a href="http://judithmarkich.blogspot.com/">http://judithmarkich.blogspot.com/</a><br /></p><p align="center"><span style="font-size:130%;"></span> </p><p align="center"><span style="font-size:130%;">I very much miss Kimberly . I would have loved to see what she would have done. Kimberly, the quality and style of your work was missed this week.<br /></span><br /><br /><em>Once again let me say I mean no harsh feelings and I am offering my opinion only as a means of a constructive critique.I welcome critique myself. If all the feed back these designers get is just “PRETTY DOLL” then how can they grow. After all the theory of “Project Dollway” is to find the best! I respect the pressure these designers were under to complete this REALLY tough challenge! The research alone is staggering in a historical respect. Very hard challenge indeed I am having a hard time putting into words what I am thinking. For I have to admit that I was disappointed with the over all work on this challenge. </em><br /><em>The sky was the limit as far as choices, Yet the creativity was lacking. I felt like some of the designers were still stuck on the “Over scale” challenge earlier Laces, trim and accent elements clearly out of scale... For the most part the fit was very poor. I think obviously these designers are much more adept in ready to wear than costuming. For it is clear they were out of their element</em>.<br /></p><p align="center"></p><p align="center">Although a stunning costume and silhouette <strong>M &G’s “Hello Dolly”</strong> was still a miss for me. A brilliant Designer friend, Judy once gave me a tip on doing this. She cuts a swag on a bias and hangs it wet... to “FIND” its folds... this is what I am missing here.. But the design is blah.. and leaves me thinking .. is that all... take me somewhere... give me the future... give me color... (black is not so great in a competition like this. it is not eye catching or exciting and you loose the all detail of the design. I am not saying that black is wrong for this movie. But you could have chosen a movie that Rocked.. of ICON dress!<br /></p><p align="center"><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBnpfyMVHXnSaNIIQE10Gq1KYPI8pHjYC8D8P-klEcueVHRwi56pZcfmt1N-bL1XyoNMAdU0eYDkD7yEhVZZGNPgItHles7fG3S7kKnLcaU_Dw4y8XDW1_drOLBrdy_iHn8rzhCrJubAw/s1600-h/Alex_Brandon_Icon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5141753718110364674" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBnpfyMVHXnSaNIIQE10Gq1KYPI8pHjYC8D8P-klEcueVHRwi56pZcfmt1N-bL1XyoNMAdU0eYDkD7yEhVZZGNPgItHles7fG3S7kKnLcaU_Dw4y8XDW1_drOLBrdy_iHn8rzhCrJubAw/s200/Alex_Brandon_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></a>That just leaves <strong>Brandon’s “Titanic”..</strong> Nice ideas and the color scheme and fabrics were clever. But in the end the fit was poor.. this is my #1 criteria for good design.. FIT...is crucial. This dress did not fit and the button details were sloppy. The neck line seemed too plain for all of the detail elsewhere. It needed some steaming which was not your fault. I just jumped on my first idea (which is odd for me) and ran with it. We only had one week to come up with the finial design. I read the challenge out line at work Monday morning. I took out my sketch pad and dashed out my ideas and thoughts. When it came time for lunch I jumped in my car and drove to Johannes to make sure I could get the very important trim needed to make this design happen. Sure enough there is was “EXACTLY” what I wanted even the colors I envisioned. Grabbed it and took off with out any hesitation. Yahooooooo.... When I got home from work I was off and running. Got the outfit started that night. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPc5Rn64nfFDZYS4WvDjR1ZuelezaGAuaGTN5j4FAvjo_sriaPFQuxWIIyRSL3uCs6if_bwHgaDHLfUGCRnNO77BSFOgWgGIV0zqfNUI1hNDLMLpM0tVS78EBdBii74QbWNOMJbbGR4qs/s1600-h/fr3.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5140257355799405346" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPc5Rn64nfFDZYS4WvDjR1ZuelezaGAuaGTN5j4FAvjo_sriaPFQuxWIIyRSL3uCs6if_bwHgaDHLfUGCRnNO77BSFOgWgGIV0zqfNUI1hNDLMLpM0tVS78EBdBii74QbWNOMJbbGR4qs/s320/fr3.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Next day when I got home my doll buddy Beth, out of the blue had overnight ed to me her Susie...sooo thought full I never even ask I was just going to use a Barbie. (Thank you BETH) And as luck would have it she was a blond, perfect!!! Tuesday night I fitted the outfit to Susie and almost finished it. I took it to work Wednesday morning and bounced some details I had in mind off of some of the other designers. And that night she was finished....... her hair and all!!<br />I always love to share a few hints that I discover along the design “Trail” and this week I have a very simple solution to a common problem. I use one of my black trouser socks to make the knee high sock for Susie.. The lyrica in the socks was perfect and already washed many times so no need to worry about the black dye getting on the doll. Even cutting it off did not require any hems. So use this tip or not but I think it worked out great with very little effort.<br />Here she is .....she did not win but she got great feed back on the group and most like her very much. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlZSKE1FE6L0HzDOIw3_lJQ1iVdGhEYnSbtUTYh69OPLSDQBDrG9caSyuxTsQYDHCsnJjrE8EnZ8nekF3hb-OTON5lAKONRkulNRaTC_qnu_AsOp4jJcg3K_mhrujI5yE828zSq-I2HqQ/s1600-h/fr1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5140259773865993074" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlZSKE1FE6L0HzDOIw3_lJQ1iVdGhEYnSbtUTYh69OPLSDQBDrG9caSyuxTsQYDHCsnJjrE8EnZ8nekF3hb-OTON5lAKONRkulNRaTC_qnu_AsOp4jJcg3K_mhrujI5yE828zSq-I2HqQ/s320/fr1.jpg" border="0" /></a></span><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDqOqsjnZU8scse1LEvnT1VUjWy7FnZ0mgmnEuBNW6fc2BtkqIdDoAg9klq2LVNjU9tU50vHCiDYkKknz25bkRJGhe8ssVnJTNHFwzDdHTNvHcy4WsU1NGnflrMuHaUSlthqWaOvmSuHE/s1600-h/f3.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5140258330756981570" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDqOqsjnZU8scse1LEvnT1VUjWy7FnZ0mgmnEuBNW6fc2BtkqIdDoAg9klq2LVNjU9tU50vHCiDYkKknz25bkRJGhe8ssVnJTNHFwzDdHTNvHcy4WsU1NGnflrMuHaUSlthqWaOvmSuHE/s320/f3.jpg" border="0" /></a><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5140259271354819410" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJFTwCnvfjztYiZjVNThXQ0_41Jy1QwjPq_-ZO-Cv5Gae8gqjxPbWLIUbrocnQ6wXjOp9UFW4IbkgRu-hJWcmkoLSMUaVJJyocaT-owYMM9mVCDkII0JvJdGor7OdsX9insnwFWLR_FmQ/s320/fr2.jpg" border="0" /> </div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5140260220542591890" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOVanI2BUYAgGWwP-ynbg8pp3JwjbRVaD9BLMSChHPwVWhRhWl34BEek3bi4V_6Tpu8VFCeQzpw0LBTxutVJ80loi939i6VqQgHA46ZnIr1UMCujDtgloyhMb38ZiEIeDL7VcMo2rB0qI/s400/hr2.jpg" border="0" /> <div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div><div align="center">~ENJOY~<br /><br /></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:180%;color:#cc33cc;"><strong>auf Wiedersehen</strong></span></div></div>darlingdivadurellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15535551944193332511noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8623800063780554801.post-44871778927382141672007-12-01T15:36:00.000-08:002007-12-01T16:00:04.271-08:00#5 The Susie Challenge<div align="center"><span style="font-family:arial;"><strong>The challenge concept</strong>:<br /><em>Take Susie any where in the world and dress her in a contemporary outfit inspired by the local fashion, fabric and traditional dress. It is so tailored and so crisp. Love – love - love the plaid, (great colors) it is tough to get a plaid to work on any small doll but Debbie did it with ease here. The pleating details were awesome and the Eisenhower style jacket was wonderful and a good solution to this small doll. All of the jacket details were scaled perfectly. And ...OH that purse....yummmy..... So cute.. Love it! Loose the hat did not need it. I can see exactly where your design elements came from. Your research paid off and how you transposed it into street wear for a young girl is perfect. The styling on this doll is so much fun I can see this young traveler out on the streets of Greece with that cute tote taking in the sites. Very simple idea with a lot of very difficult fabrication all done perfectly, one being the pants legs. The detailing is so lovely at the ankle, very striking. I loved the fabric choice here too, a very molded pink. This design was edited perfectly – in this case less is MORE. And with a perfect fit. Thank goodness you kept it simple that is the success of the design. I wish I could see that little hand bag.. Bet it is cute too. I read you were disappointed with the styling of the sari but in my opinion it did not negate the quality of the design. . Well done.. Good luck.<br /></span><a href="http://boxpleat.blogspot.com/"><span style="font-family:arial;">http://boxpleat.blogspot.com/</span></a><br /><span style="font-family:arial;"><br /><strong>Karen</strong> has really stepped up her game these last 2 rounds I was disappointed that she got the <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHmCEwbqsSVR-ixLTZ3F_XWo0TXL9B67L4p_7E7STj4ox5x6cIUNtkIOINGd_43sprhnQFwbfAV2cwGoEX4hWFD9ZPLUm8Ga5AD0r9HFhEcwnCtVR_9R_d2V6qfh-uojWLKrQpbXt4Od0/s1600-r/Susie_Karen_Icon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5139155593608766098" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjb2v_0S-VakNSckxdwdCrKgyTiITRriECHQHggkAXSJXUTXMu7Wr_UHyGH7syTH45VfEjv-c662kRn39punZI8fiX8lUl_zBl3x0H6zuCyBbkBnmNRd9U1A-yjog2R8y68Y7LVW5qNtyQ/s200/Susie_Karen_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></a>lowest score last round. That was a wonderful design however the judges deemed that it did not follow the out line of the challenge. Sorry Karen. But with that said this round was great and did follow the out line of the challenge. <strong>Scotland</strong>... ..ah yes, here we go - plaid... yea-good scale for the element you used it on. Plaid is hard; I know caz I am on my own search for a plaid to use on a contest doll I am planning. I would have liked to have seen a crisper pleat on the skirt but the styling did created a youthful and fun feeling. The hat did not do much for the overall design and I felt it was unnecessary. I wish I could see that sporen/purse in detail it was just so clever and appropriate. Good luck and I hope we do not see you go this week. You have done a wonderful job.<br /></span><a href="http://wwwkolkmankreations.blogspot.com/"><span style="font-family:arial;">http://wwwkolkmankreations.blogspot.com/</span></a><br /><span style="font-family:arial;"><br /><strong><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9avUiwhpX17pJalyU_a3v0u7sbx_mwJpzGObFCZK4leMAiofkf1x36hSgMKkUDjmyICf3nA93dRGjOckXA-eg9bU1kQ2V47O_0PSZs1EqwQkBHClzeOD30Wkm8yTQLnkRGLtj0mheFvk/s1600-r/Susie_Brenda_Icon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5139155773997392546" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXvxugoao5hyphenhyphenrZC6_7TWNqNtEw6XoP0Cvmm6dCf9YS9GF-RH0vdwr9xMbUV8B1TLcsfQZe0pI9iWnNOBROc8ypGkmWg2Jzsv9zRfffyQn_uCdKhKwdN_Xql9L7spveBZEw-os9FyzZUNs/s200/Susie_Brenda_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></a>Brenda’s Japan</strong>..... I am always a sucker for anything Asian. I did like this dress The colors, although not really what I think of as Japan, were bright and happy and claimed an intensity to the design My best description of this outfit would probably be “Quirky” The Asian elements lend themselves well to defining this garment’s country. As far as street wear I do not think the sleeves would work but I personally like them they are fun and I adore how the juxtaposition of colors in the lining and face are done. The stylized Obie is adorable. Why a pink purse?<br /></span><a href="http://900dreamstreet.blogspot.com/"><span style="font-family:arial;">http://900dreamstreet.blogspot.com/</span></a><br /><span style="font-family:arial;"><br /><br /><strong>Andrea’s London</strong> ...another winning design. I have to say I appreciated her design much more <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdXwhxO-DzSRuwMLNVOVkw6MTd7Z4D0croYlyAMCgdY-nuEIigo-96fYa6Ph5YMxskcHKXslRqyIf4F1ppb_mhbd2kt7Mr3qJXXmyoxuSF7bTVsndQ1luxHd3X-WnluUkvlyKwBEIdnG0/s1600-r/Susie_Andrea_Icon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5139155907141378738" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6NcopfSmV1KFeG7RGB1Dnh1tLtv5eBjraWn25EjD3l0DhusSDjAFIkU1_LGjz-ibhjQWsugNJFXo_OfYMTH1COe4O19QEz_EtrNPDFm6Y7_a0bMeIk44-XA0qAWuLgWtCuc2KaByPbhI/s200/Susie_Andrea_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></a>after reading her blog and seeing her entertaining video.<br />From the runway show I did not know how many layers she had created. I also did not know that the Jacket was short and she had an attached waist band in red on the skirt. With the jacket open and relaxed this design was a lot more youthful and street worthy. I hope the judges got to see her original vision as she planed it, because I felt the runway made the jacket appear too bulky and stodgy. It gave Susie the appearance of a bell hop. Again, as with all the designs a hat is just wrong for this doll. I know from Andrea’s blog what she was thinking but it read as a pillbox hat on the runway. I love her blog I adore seeing her research process and I have thanked her for slicing open her brain so we can see in.Good job Andrea!<br /></span><a href="http://www.andreajaques.blogspot.com/"><span style="font-family:arial;">http://www.andreajaques.blogspot.com/</span></a><br /><span style="font-family:arial;"><br /><strong><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEqQNloewSyps3sNfaF_x_gWALbVhVFlW8rYFJTkTSP-DV1eY8M1zTklTO2DW1pwTZZumbtJDEe2XEPoQdexKeH8BTSfG8O5Wk5rUXEfW50KBMetGrSgw5S7xx4yGmuYURRRjEDFZzHKk/s1600-r/Susie_Leigh_Icon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5139156023105495746" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTekhBuxEXw_QJ05RNZHTuki6SszasU58MMIktQQkR0bP4drygmrnuE8sHLL_TFS5pmt-Ql0eBdI-46MHVXMmFf8ZBQGAT3DL5IZCid69NA61uGwvzSlnWSdqJr37GOVTcw7H5Ocm7W4M/s200/Susie_Leigh_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></a>Leigh’s Native American</strong>... Dot and I both ooooooed and ahhhhed at this one when it came up. I bet you knitted that sweater... clever you. The colors were so bright and clear. The simple detail on the shirt was very representative of the concept. This was a very youthful and street worthy design, which grasped the challenge extremely well. Boots were cute too.. I now know how heard it is to find shoes for this girl. Nice design and a good casual feeling. Not my favorite but very well done.<br /></span><a href="http://leighslaughter.blogspot.com/"><span style="font-family:arial;">http://leighslaughter.blogspot.com/</span></a><br /><span style="font-family:arial;"><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJuTQP5vSQHQTwm0jrBs2I8JlONG7pHIqI9WuuI-5w59nsX0x-9xwh1qA0wtHiGzkESwNOG_Y74SHVv0A8yjPIroVTH6IaQSFcIQqbnfbdZo10OMHnSD0CGBxQy2sS7WKQCffIJebb6-k/s1600-r/Susie_Brandon_Icon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5139156121889743570" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZNpqFGcM04QldPjKfKC49vpoJtgAJ9it9Z4oWZwrcuC-WefVrCFH8YnCof6fx-M1Qs0567nQTYc6Oj3_g-fMtcWsbQm2Tf7_RSHktv0oO5cGkRQokE4xAvM0a21SWxOsXXd74Q2_J_tI/s200/Susie_Brandon_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><strong>Brandon’s Paris</strong>.... I am surprised more designers did not do this city. Great job... it is such a sweet design but I don’t think the colors say “Paris” to me. I miss the color PINK... to me Paris is Pink (I know that is just me a little coo-koo but ..)<br />The little jacket is lovely and I like it styled open. The legging and flats are oh-so Parisian.. and the little skirt is cute and short. This is the only disappointing design in the runway show today. It is the only one that I had to question ...”Now where am I, what county am I in?” I love these guys and they are always spot on. But this was a miss for me... OK..I know you guys are throwing your mouse controllers at me now, but I feel like if I am going to do an honest unbiased review I have to say it. I just did not get it. Maybe it is a Euro thing but it was over designed and bulky. And way too much detail too much trim for this doll. The little lace in the hair.. hmmmm? You guys usually blow me away you are great doll designers but this one .. a miss.<br /></span><a href="http://magia2000.blogspot.com/"><span style="font-family:arial;">http://magia2000.blogspot.com/</span></a><br /><span style="font-family:arial;"><br /><strong>With that said Mario and Gianni are still in my “OVER ALL” top 4 picks to win this competition along with Judith, Debbie and Kimberly. </strong></span></div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"><strong><br /></strong><span style="font-size:180%;"><strong>This “Project Dollway” has been such fun to see and participating in the “At Home” challenges has enhanced it even more for me. Nothing in my fabric stash is over scale because I work hard at keeping my dolls in prints representative of their size. So off I went on a hunting trip to “Hancocks” for inspiration but alas a disappointing adventure. At one point I did have in my hands a wonderful large scale cotton Plaid, wonderful colors... but my thoughts were, “Wow everyone will use plaid”.... ~NOT~.... No one in this challenge used plaid. That really surprised me. I should have bought it because I returned home with nothing. </span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;"></span><br /><div align="center"><span style="font-family:arial;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5137677200287717618" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYv6y3ZpVudUrq7dwaATQnNrhdFw9zbL2pKNFtMsP86SMpf4_T6mk_Av2x2VhlAYj44hqzsj47Tz5zLEyWweJ-zJ_6jrF5cUwDKuHp_rZEUCkD10QSYi1izsqTUbisVtFKKGAVco_Pblg/s320/draw1.jpg" border="0" /></span> <span style="font-family:arial;">(consept drawing)</span> <div><span style="font-family:arial;"><div><br />I had to rethink, I pondered on doing an Asian theme and adding an over scale dragon appliqué that encircled the dress. (opps done that already) But in the end I came up with another idea...”Day and Night”...... the “Sun and the Moon”. Yes this in my mind is a brilliant idea. One side of the dress day the other night<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoDI7_YdIDNJgelBrhxjaujW-bmraRkKurZBC9__hPVbIP7v_Y_96jHCL7y3fsvIzh-smV9e-aF6wUU6OgcJbZBumcqCQhEE7WEA2_fu5jwga9ZeU2StONcNm71zvbQa9K-7mnA0FGygI/s1600-h/detail3.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5137676633352034498" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoDI7_YdIDNJgelBrhxjaujW-bmraRkKurZBC9__hPVbIP7v_Y_96jHCL7y3fsvIzh-smV9e-aF6wUU6OgcJbZBumcqCQhEE7WEA2_fu5jwga9ZeU2StONcNm71zvbQa9K-7mnA0FGygI/s200/detail3.jpg" border="0" /></a>High contrast fabrics in graphic colors were going to be needed to make this work, but I did not want black and white so yellow and blue were a perfect choice. When I returned to fabric shop I stumbled on to the idea of stripes, which in theory, I could collage together and make sun rays radiating out from my sun face. I found a wonderful yellow and yellow orange stripe. I wanted a blue that was vibrant and a live that did not fall into the gray/blue area. To add texture to that blue I found a modeled print that had a leaf design over lay, thinking that might appear as “stars”.</div><div><br /></div><div></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5137679412195875090" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmytEybLJSZ7729E3GOoMZf4Bfe020Bw3w_dl9Df3PvG1z-zxJGkeEuci-sTNZIxe0K51mRqA_D8qpnOADkn0en0YuJCSZ1bHEsYfltYWFZ0QLWyjmFANl6Fvc4ylITCjxD00jYFSLpKY/s400/detail2.jpg" border="0" /> From the beginning I knew it was doubtful that I would find a sun and moon fabric so I did a search on Google images assuming if I found something I liked I could print on fabric to make an appliqué. I did find a lot of inspiration and even selected an image. But my printer did not cooperate and the print did not come out vibrant enough for me ....soooo what next....? Well I know myself and I figured to get exactly what I wanted I would just have to paint the design on white fabric and then appliqué that onto the dress. </span></div><div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5137677887482484994" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBNkyT8LX4abV4vXt0v64UtFS0C_10JtowM6OLazRnmANS675BaVdZHLdanyAycMtByGOCOLzfO6PdecA4PxFp4hMMlK7mpqTOkwUmtmYE-n2A1I5Alhn2YKwF7IQ6gVDqTyKMQ5ekCnM/s400/detail1.jpg" border="0" /><br />I played around with the radiating strip effect and trashed it, feeling it would create a very bulky effect. But I did make the choice to junction my 2 fabrics on the skirt using a wave line. I added the<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKBASwmZKagaemJAc-EqfzqEgO3Th80U23gDVp7QkCfgyW4nC1___8XmEorMORpW1XrKq6DaMfcUmszuYShMfBoToAIvwenhTdXbTfa6MUGEj-9nRlLMgzLUvzZ9BPLdGMu_HQiA4aw1s/s1600-h/purse.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5137680120865478946" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKBASwmZKagaemJAc-EqfzqEgO3Th80U23gDVp7QkCfgyW4nC1___8XmEorMORpW1XrKq6DaMfcUmszuYShMfBoToAIvwenhTdXbTfa6MUGEj-9nRlLMgzLUvzZ9BPLdGMu_HQiA4aw1s/s320/purse.jpg" border="0" /></a> appliqué but before the skirt was attached to the bodice I did a lot of freeform stitching on the fabric. I did radiating yellow an orange stitching out from the sun and all around the moon I stitched swirling curls in white thread. I LOVE this!!! So much fun...<br />My original drawings were extreme fantasy and “OUT” there with lots of projecting attachments. My tendency to create fantasy is strong and I had to REALLY edit myself to stay as real as possible, knowing all along that real women would never wear this anyway.<br /></span></div><span style="font-family:arial;"><div><br /><br />In the area of an oversized element my first thoughts were to do a necklace with very large bobbles (moon stones were my choice; again they have a little star effect when light shines on them.) I did assemble the bobbles into a 4 row necklace but the effect was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...over the top. Then I made a really small necklace of delica beads and wrapped it around and round the neck ... in the end I dropped the whole necklace idea all together. I found some blue and yellow stars and arranged them in the dolls hair. I think I may have dropped the ball on this one but it looked good to me. And I am going with it. I finished out the ensemble with 2 more of the stars and made an evening bag to compliment the outfit. Lucky for me some where along the line I had a pair of bright yellow shoes.. yea! </div><div><br /></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5137676186675435666" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIA7xhvZS__1nSmhInfpO8l-rxewlmauNX3E-zdkdobL7Rfp3FkkEbonwnku4mzprl1y8e7Q9qXcq921mem4hVNALpAONsbwxdffLvJTBIjJJhwxhnEh92XPkVjRFmzGDrFTzC8VsnIPw/s320/full4.jpg" border="0" /> </span></div><br /></div>darlingdivadurellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15535551944193332511noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8623800063780554801.post-68976836963992500482007-11-24T16:13:00.000-08:002007-11-24T17:19:21.416-08:00PDW Tyler Challenge....ahhhhhh yes....<div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><span style="font-family:arial;">Let me first state that, as an artist playing along in the “At Home” challenge I can empathies with these designers 100%. The premise of this challenge was to create a full skirt ball gown with an oversize print or design on the fabric and with the addition of one oversize element. The “TWIST” was to use cotton.....ugh...cotton.... well anyone who sews for fashion dolls more than likely feel as I do ... and I hate cotton. </span></div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-family:arial;">While I worked on my own design I realized that this challenge lends it self easily to a Fantasy look. So I was not surprised this morning to find that a lot of the designer’s fashions did have a very fanciful feeling. So when I make that statement it is not meant in a bad way it is just the nature of the challenge. </span></div><div> </div><div align="center"><a href="http://www.projectdollway.com/Tonner%20Challenge%20Runway.html"><span style="font-family:arial;">http://www.projectdollway.com/Tonner%20Challenge%20Runway.html</span></a></div><div align="center"><br /> </div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-family:arial;">My top 3 picks this challenge were <strong>Brenda, Kimberly and Magia 2000</strong>.... to me these 3 designers embraced the essence of the challenge.. </span></div><div> </div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1YlsPu9i_tS5ZC_0FVvw-AtvNoF43IRL1N1hhVQr4zIISWBM3F5JmdCWNLaIg9eMq78W6pKujIwscZIDjpLM_R9MU4MtjDY0b4hqHCswNB3ZDkXOsozELhV3cqnSfVqc2ijWl_ctD-78/s1600-h/Tonner_Kimberly_Icon.jpg"><span style="font-family:arial;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5136575670025312178" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1YlsPu9i_tS5ZC_0FVvw-AtvNoF43IRL1N1hhVQr4zIISWBM3F5JmdCWNLaIg9eMq78W6pKujIwscZIDjpLM_R9MU4MtjDY0b4hqHCswNB3ZDkXOsozELhV3cqnSfVqc2ijWl_ctD-78/s320/Tonner_Kimberly_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></span></a><br /></div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"><strong>Kimberly</strong> had the most unique and amazing design I think so far in project! WOW... I was instantly blown away with the whole concept. The pattern of the fabric was soft and subtle but defiantly over scale. The gowns design was wonderful a long bubble skirt and executed perfectly! But it was that bow that really caught my attention, the perfect detail placement was perfect and the color was just right. Every view of this design is lovely. </span></div><div><br /></div><div><br /><br /><strong><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHy9coz1aNnF0GQCYxaq8odrwPJQlrNrJa3eVZjr9BDREUqoGhYRaiwGtHxZdOaLhhiiL_RqOUEP3x6rXFskvqBr0WOAC4wVO9be1-6ChYvKvUvLRseu5t_bCQf8XwJG2hM1kuCRasrRg/s1600-h/Tonner_Brenda_Icon.jpg"><span style="font-family:arial;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5136575914838448066" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHy9coz1aNnF0GQCYxaq8odrwPJQlrNrJa3eVZjr9BDREUqoGhYRaiwGtHxZdOaLhhiiL_RqOUEP3x6rXFskvqBr0WOAC4wVO9be1-6ChYvKvUvLRseu5t_bCQf8XwJG2hM1kuCRasrRg/s320/Tonner_Brenda_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></span></a><span style="font-family:arial;">Brenda,</span></strong><span style="font-family:arial;"> this was her best yet while she usually makes my heart stop with those wonderful accessories this time she was DEAD on with her fashion too. The over scale geometric stripe was dazzling and how she cut and placed the pattern on the skirt made it dance. It seemed to have a movement on its own. The velvet top was exactly right on too and I love that neck line. Oh so clever is the Over size element of the wrap. I adore the Asian “Twist” paper chain idea. Cute cute cute......</span></div><div><br /></div><div><br /> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIeYEowyAfm0ZaG6XMkl1dy5YKxp2gvuEHtXjOWb6LacWIb_Xupl_ka_dbl7z5k209afiaRwGUtVNaLUUEcK2zsqUHQ_4KJcigQIdQjZpjYZ6Vm6F7CDgeOTQqEQ7bLZYoGf9ThjFUxBM/s1600-h/Tonner_Magia_Icon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5136579075934378066" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIeYEowyAfm0ZaG6XMkl1dy5YKxp2gvuEHtXjOWb6LacWIb_Xupl_ka_dbl7z5k209afiaRwGUtVNaLUUEcK2zsqUHQ_4KJcigQIdQjZpjYZ6Vm6F7CDgeOTQqEQ7bLZYoGf9ThjFUxBM/s320/Tonner_Magia_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-family:arial;">Always a winner is <strong>Magia 2000</strong> these guys have their hand on the heart beat of what collectors like. This fashion is perfect in every way while most of the designer in the challenge had a somewhat fantasy feeling about their design <strong>Mario and Gianni’s</strong> design is still realistic looking. The skirt falls perfectly, you would NEVER guess this was cotton. Just lovely.... and I LOVE love love that black bow on the back... with out skipping a beat that bow totally fits into this design with out looking like an after thought . </span></div><div><br /></div><div><br /><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-family:arial;">My vote is still out on this one but one of these 3. mostly because they executed perfect designs with in the parameters of the challenge. Hard choice here for me. </span><br /></div><br /><div align="center"><strong><span style="font-size:130%;">~~~<br /></span></strong></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"><strong>Now my bottom 3... ugh... sorry guys</strong>.. there were some clear misses for me. Even thought I believe even in my own “AT Home” design mine and a lot of these designer faced the issue of their design looking like fantasy... and nothing is wrong with that.. real women are not likely to wear this stuff any way. But a few designers did not “PLAY” well in the over scale concept! </span><br /></div><div><br /></div><div></div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-family:arial;">These 3 designers were <strong>Andrea, Brandon and Leigh</strong>. Let me say here that I am in no way bashing any of these designers I have the up most respect of them as designer and for the accomplishment they have made in this project. I hope that my critique is beneficial and is taken it with the spirit of constructiveness.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZiHp3UXziEdOsjh28zzinyGBwhuPiBzpKNkv7fwRzkkaquVt3Jn44T5tzmSwZpUcyAIQj5ROJZzpbJar7Dt_IF8c_ES8KOn6tvDJHAHqh3sYX3HOZuvl75-PvyiIGoS0_Py67OBmtDM4/s1600-h/Tonner_Andrea_Icon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5136576511838902242" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZiHp3UXziEdOsjh28zzinyGBwhuPiBzpKNkv7fwRzkkaquVt3Jn44T5tzmSwZpUcyAIQj5ROJZzpbJar7Dt_IF8c_ES8KOn6tvDJHAHqh3sYX3HOZuvl75-PvyiIGoS0_Py67OBmtDM4/s320/Tonner_Andrea_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><strong>Andrea </strong>is usually one of my favorites but I feel like the pattern she choose was way tooo busy... far to fussy .. (In my field, interior design I like for my rooms to have a flow and movement yet have a place for the “Eye to Rest”) The same is true of anything in the design arena.. The eye must have a place to rest if the design is too busy then you can not appreciate the fashion. In Andréa’s case she had some wonderful ideas.. The cut out flowers on the bodice sleeves were fab and the way she centered the floral pattern on the bodice starts out great. ...but BAM... once my eye goes to the skirt I am overwhelmed with pattern. To me the pattern choice here is just tooo overwhelming..some good ideas in the design Editing would have helped but very “fairy princess in the woods” theme to me.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmIsiGh2_mjfMt3ZYY_4O8PyJWV56hbHiwk6CSrlg4hJmJanwks66_rkrrk6mGHznA0wimU3ormKkJeow3TohXGytLpjDzhG-nZf9gahyphenhyphenmPdFVFeOmyr9H8PCB_zUoTmZmXueDAGYXiVI/s1600-h/Tonner_Brandon_Icon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5136576692227528690" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmIsiGh2_mjfMt3ZYY_4O8PyJWV56hbHiwk6CSrlg4hJmJanwks66_rkrrk6mGHznA0wimU3ormKkJeow3TohXGytLpjDzhG-nZf9gahyphenhyphenmPdFVFeOmyr9H8PCB_zUoTmZmXueDAGYXiVI/s320/Tonner_Brandon_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></a>Another miss for me is <strong>Brandon</strong>. The color on this gown is nice but the execution is rough .While I adored Magia’s bow on the back this one was just not there. Even working in OVER scale the size still should have a good relation to the gown and yours was too big. The black ruffle on the bodice was unnecessary.. Again editing...I think this whole finial look of this gown would have come off 100xs better without this element. The ruffle totally competes with the pattern in the gown.<br /></div></span><span style="font-family:arial;"></span><span style="font-family:arial;"></span><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:arial;"><div></div><div></div><div> </div><div>Lastly <strong>Leigh</strong>,.... totally off base. Seemed to me he simply made a white gown and stuck on an <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZryaSgO-WKQgQhnEDhPwomNZGOG224rX_3ubI1dAuT2jyM2cb4zKYXGvUEyHVS9fFQU4EWcum-sQ8wDindJg7nyV3RrNfczPTkubCqEncocCYZNDkl9nDg6IwwMDNBRyWCC6_-cT8Umo/s1600-h/Tonner_Leigh_Icon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5136580390194370674" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZryaSgO-WKQgQhnEDhPwomNZGOG224rX_3ubI1dAuT2jyM2cb4zKYXGvUEyHVS9fFQU4EWcum-sQ8wDindJg7nyV3RrNfczPTkubCqEncocCYZNDkl9nDg6IwwMDNBRyWCC6_-cT8Umo/s320/Tonner_Leigh_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></a>appliqué which had NO relation to the gown at all. The train is silly to me, I am thinking it is the Over size element and not expected but not good. I can not see much of the jewelry but looks like he picked up the colors of the appliqué. I think if this necklace had been his over size element it could have saved the day. By using a really colorful and over size necklace this would have tied the white gown and appliqué together in a much more appealing way. All of the design interest was on the floor... if the color and scale had been brought up in jewelry it could have made he gown more interesting.<br /></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:arial;">The other designers who fell I the middle for me were all wonderful but for a number of reasons I felt were not as brilliant as my top 3. </span></div><span style="font-family:arial;"><br /><br /><div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4p4TjSGoy_QjFPlTCLdW4bHNHvHFX3i_C2MFMRMwnz7fEPKnJ1c8sg8u_xCtsSU50s82Vn8Rn_b5EZ3C8XxnDh48d8jtrDxFM6eVw3sWauXaMqsayPeYNpp5Q0BACwwYXEdIS7MvwQGs/s1600-h/Tonner_Jose_Icon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5136577671480072210" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4p4TjSGoy_QjFPlTCLdW4bHNHvHFX3i_C2MFMRMwnz7fEPKnJ1c8sg8u_xCtsSU50s82Vn8Rn_b5EZ3C8XxnDh48d8jtrDxFM6eVw3sWauXaMqsayPeYNpp5Q0BACwwYXEdIS7MvwQGs/s320/Tonner_Jose_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />I am afraid we will have to say good-bye to <strong>Jose</strong>’ nice design but clearly not the winner.. Again too much pattern for the design of the gown... I am one of her biggest fans. She did not disappoint me! Sooo adorable... again fantasy like. You had me at hello (to borrow the words of Michael Kors on PW). That bodice is fabulous and fits to perfection . Love the neck line and the butterfly appliqué is flawless. The way the bodice joins the dress is so cute. The large poke-a-dots were a delightful choice as well as the color scheme BRW... you never can go wrong using those colors for a really graphic effect. The accessories looked very appropriate for the fantasy feeling of the design as well. My only negative comment is that white appliqué... what is it? That stumbled my mind ... sorry. Over all really well done always perfect fit and execution... I really admire that... to me fit and execution are maybe the most important and Judith always does an impeccable job.<br /><br /><strong><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTLy_Yz-nJQKZBZ8R1sU9a9kgFVLkRsGNBOjTPl_PxOw0DrRsxKhhFZ5XID31Y7M1WQ46y8eE3cwDHM-IVdZ6JYqJXSxDpI7TSgddnbmrdaEUYSTysAfuKMixbM5XvvuGxhxw26zT6fYc/s1600-h/Tonner_Debbie_Icon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5136578199761049650" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTLy_Yz-nJQKZBZ8R1sU9a9kgFVLkRsGNBOjTPl_PxOw0DrRsxKhhFZ5XID31Y7M1WQ46y8eE3cwDHM-IVdZ6JYqJXSxDpI7TSgddnbmrdaEUYSTysAfuKMixbM5XvvuGxhxw26zT6fYc/s320/Tonner_Debbie_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></a>Debbie </strong>is also one of my favorite designers in this competition. She had an adorable gown this challenge, which also fell right into that fantasy feeling. I loved the bold horizontal stripes at the hem... and the bodice was nice bringing up the reverse concept of white w/ black. A lot of interesting detail, maybe too much.. Again editing could have been good here. The buttons on the skirt seemed unnecessary. And I am sorry to say.. in the concept of a “Ball gown” the cuffs were too much, looked cute with the jacket. But they were distracting with out it. As a matter of fact this was a beautiful gown and did not need that jacket at all.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkDAkqEDJoSF8lXAukqHt5b6zEraBr1urSTI1BhuNiWynO5eXyC8bbyvz1ST1UZzkRDFOcLo5wXsdMNv7YKNzYamRE-6ZlMDXwsVqbKju5oTCPLVPg5t62t1439xFsTYJ_I0HLmSPJm2E/s1600-h/Tonner_Karen_Icon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5136578453164120130" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkDAkqEDJoSF8lXAukqHt5b6zEraBr1urSTI1BhuNiWynO5eXyC8bbyvz1ST1UZzkRDFOcLo5wXsdMNv7YKNzYamRE-6ZlMDXwsVqbKju5oTCPLVPg5t62t1439xFsTYJ_I0HLmSPJm2E/s320/Tonner_Karen_Icon.jpg" border="0" /></a>That just leaves <strong>Karen</strong>...This was a well executed gown as well. I don’t know what "cotton lawn" is (From her blog) but what ever it is beautiful fabric. The problem I had with this design is only that I feel like it did not follow the challenge out line. To me a ball gown is not something that has caprice pants under it and I feel like print was hedging on OK for the scale of the doll. I think these are things that you may have lost points on the grand scheme of things. All that said ...WOW.. I really did like the overall finished product.... so smart and fresh. This dress will defiantly sell well ... easily. Well made and fit is wonderful it has a broad appeal. The hat was unique and fanciful and I liked that it provided a big punch of color. The belt was a good choice too. Over all well edited and a gorgeous garment </div><br /><div></div><div></div><div align="center"><strong><span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:180%;">Once again Thank you TED for bringing us this entertaining and fun project... well done!!!</span></strong></div><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><div></span></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>darlingdivadurellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15535551944193332511noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8623800063780554801.post-33872972366170237122007-11-14T15:49:00.000-08:002007-11-14T16:46:33.559-08:00WOW......I won!!!<span style="font-family:arial;">This challenge was about the total look based on the classic Little Black Dress. I knew I wanted a sexy neck line and the silhouette was also an important requirement. Barbie’s small waist is very distinctive and makes her a good muse to model anything.<br />Knowing me and how I get stuck on color I knew straight up that I would NOT use citrine again. So to resolve that issue with myself I began my mock-up design in that color. I will show that dress later. I decided that Fushia would look perfect with the design ideas I had. But I also knew I must tone it down or mute it some way.<br /></p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5132854892612147010" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR5Ukc2vcM5sDEADXw51b5bsyd3JEzRqB9kmVSp1IVd_PApqQNNh0sfnDQC3wT1wpbSdVP7RbqS8tlWNOUHkSSGDnOuR9IKsp6gHCI9X0RUE5uCNnJ9TpM9ZEpMkdTvUqsjlFONR5z0L4/s400/out1.jpg" border="0" /> </span><span style="font-family:arial;">I began sketching at work and narrowed down my idea to one look. Mainly because my co-workers kept telling me over and over that they loved this design and would wear it to a cocktail party. The look I started with was a classic trench coat / shirt dress design. The twist comes from the collar and sweetheart neck line. Also I adore the drag-el-ly (my word) dripping lace look. Scale is always the enemy in lace and trim for Barbie. I contemplated the idea of layering black and fushia tulle (right scale) but I knew that shirring tulle would result in a Tu-tu effect. So I had to come up with a compromise some way to get the look but at the right scale.<br /><br />I Love thinking and problem solving how to scale things for Barbie. I am an OOAK artist and I have on many, many occasions styled doll hair by heat setting it in hot water. I am thinking to myself.. hmmmmm doll hair is just synthetic fiber and tulle is nylon a synthetic fiber surely I could heat tulle to achieve the pleated look I want .</span><br /><br /><br /><div align="center"><span style="font-family:arial;">Everyone has been asking me how I got this pleated effect sooooooo..... Here ya go.. </span></div><div align="center"><br /></div><span style="font-family:arial;">I layered 4 layers the tulle with the black on top and loosely pinned it together. At the sewing machine I ran rows and rows of basting stitch ½” apart. I gathered up all of the lines of stitching (no easy task) as tightly as I could and tied them off. The next step in the process was to heat set the tiny pleats I had created. This was accomplished with my steam iron set on wool and using a pressing cloth. YEA....it worked!!!! </span><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5132849678521849634" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqJg4iNY14Z4A6A8xEjNwaKrCEcjI5CrlqUaTWYVnBz2tD129WWYsbGD0ePnedVgNClMKRpz-SgUKDWyDXM2wa6QU0gIwKnQ5ZjIqer_wBdkjLF_qpeFyjGLXqXqAH4kyNzI4Tngduxy4/s320/DSCN6077.JPG" border="0" /><br /><br /><span style="font-family:arial;">By removing my lines of stitching and releasing the tulle I had heat set pleats and all I had to do was measure the length I wanted and cut it free. All three of these ladies embraced the LBD challenge through classic styling with at twist. </span></div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:130%;"><div>I am torn between these three for my #1... </div><div></div><div><strong>Kimberly</strong>, to me, fit the challenge to a “T” reinventing the classic pencil skirt by <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_GHoFlGSqyqTqbcVv4BsNLDZphyphenhyphena_6U1gwqzldGEB57ncAtvGKFEdl-wTACWinbGxxP0yTu45TM0ET_HlIsPY-xzws-tVEBEYcxCe6oxMRAQWt1HjA_idV2Wkdh3Qo5P-DANgZgmQPXg/s1600-h/barbie_icon_kim.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5131661774476189234" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_GHoFlGSqyqTqbcVv4BsNLDZphyphenhyphena_6U1gwqzldGEB57ncAtvGKFEdl-wTACWinbGxxP0yTu45TM0ET_HlIsPY-xzws-tVEBEYcxCe6oxMRAQWt1HjA_idV2Wkdh3Qo5P-DANgZgmQPXg/s320/barbie_icon_kim.jpg" border="0" /></a>staying true to her own design style with the addition of that wonderful Red pleated gusset. The matching purse was adorable. I disagree with the judge’s comment on the necklace... pearls were the first thing that came to my mind in this challenge. I applauded the simplicity of the design. Love the back and the fit is superb. By adding one simple element and color you recreated the LBD silhouette with a renewed interest. Bravo! </div><div><br /><strong><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvjs7-01XaV7hP7XAiv5EWs8nV2FvdYLtWU1Ypf1syxvdztANO1uYkdg-wiw12QyX6hcFDWaBdF_gRbRAkuwz4Kg07nTAv7HhwBAHtGns55heUFLER-HXoGeEjCKdxA6RPZ6mzJ4lY52c/s1600-h/JUDITH+SKETCH.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5131641450690944514" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvjs7-01XaV7hP7XAiv5EWs8nV2FvdYLtWU1Ypf1syxvdztANO1uYkdg-wiw12QyX6hcFDWaBdF_gRbRAkuwz4Kg07nTAv7HhwBAHtGns55heUFLER-HXoGeEjCKdxA6RPZ6mzJ4lY52c/s320/JUDITH%252BSKETCH.jpg" border="0" /></a>Judith</strong>, always a winner in my book, thus far has brought to each challenge a winning design. This weeks LBD was wonderful...... what can I say...?..... lime green as an accent color... yea!! So fresh and fun. Your accessories were precious... especially the shoes, so delicate. Were they painted or ribbon? Fit was impeccable... (I am a stickler for fit) But of course what took you to the winning level was that wonder full jacket. The slight hint of green in the lining was subtle and classy. I loved the neck line and the simple use of beads. Great design just what I would have expected. </div><br /><br /><div></div><div> </div><div>As I am writing this I am realizing that my over all choice for #1 will have to be <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0c1_xG5xeikv4kXGmdfgCNx76fXYAOtwRXNhKNgm5t02F8sOet6XwSjViNtZ0RMWsxfD2RtmFgedW3_7oZ3yegElYH1eAKCjWj-WqxMowwO3uFcW2oemxo5tDSyaaAhBYyhkMYsq5tpg/s1600-h/collagebarbie.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5131641721273884178" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0c1_xG5xeikv4kXGmdfgCNx76fXYAOtwRXNhKNgm5t02F8sOet6XwSjViNtZ0RMWsxfD2RtmFgedW3_7oZ3yegElYH1eAKCjWj-WqxMowwO3uFcW2oemxo5tDSyaaAhBYyhkMYsq5tpg/s320/collagebarbie.jpg" border="0" /></a><strong>Debbie</strong>. I loved this design. <span style="color:#006600;"><span style="color:#33ff33;">My winner</span>!</span> Again <span style="color:#33ff33;">lime green</span>... yea!!! But where you surpassed the others for me was the silhouette. You did create a new silhouette. The hem line was brilliant and “contemporary” which was part of this challenge. The button detail in the back....yummy.... But I have to say... what really made me ohhhhhhhh and ahhhhh was that HAT!!! WOW... talk about YUMMY.... I think that you considered the model (silkstone) and took the challenge to just the right level. Congratulations!!!</div><br /><br /><br /><div><br />Another design I really liked was <strong>Andréa’s</strong>. Although I felt like you could loose the sleeves completely the basic dress design was unique and looked great on the model. I think the problem with this design was it was over accessorized. I feel if you had stepped back and really editing yourself you could have won this challenge with this dress. The belt was perfect and the hat was great. But you did have too much over scaled jewelry.<br />I haven’t read all of the designer’s blogs yet but I did read <strong>Magia2000 </strong>this morning.. I adore the detailing on this dress... tooo bad the judges could not have seen this... Wow! This dress was wonderful and even though I can see the shawl being used in Europe I think this was what lost this challenge for you. (I want to reach into my screen and straighten that bow)</div><div><strong>Brenda</strong>, as always, you blew the accessories out of the ball park. Wonderful purse...yummmmm! The color combo was dramatic. The shoes were so creative...thank you for posting a good close up of them I was wanting more detail when I saw the runway show. Neat neat neat....... </div><div><strong>Karen and Jose</strong> were in my bottom three.<br /><strong>Karen</strong> I have never cared for bulky, glittery stretchy fabric, even on humans and on dolls... ugh...never a good choice! It is difficult for the fabric to relax enough to hang to the scale of the doll. With the correct fabric the silhouette could have been interesting. Your accent color was good, subtle and classy and the neck line on the back of the dress was great. Loved it! I liked the way you used the necklace to accent the back and I wish I could see the shoes better ... but loose the hat.<br />What can I say...<strong>José</strong>? <span style="color:#ff0000;">You are one of the BEST designers in the competition</span>, but big disappointment this time. It was an Interesting experimentation with the silhouette concept but ...OH dear... toooo much on a small doll. I have confidence that you can come back and win the next challenge and stay in the game. We want to see more of you!!!</span></div></div>darlingdivadurellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15535551944193332511noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8623800063780554801.post-47431930057165798032007-11-10T05:49:00.000-08:002007-11-10T06:24:05.437-08:00"Star Wars" & Human scale Sewing......<div align="left"><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;">I am taking a quick break from my “Project Doll Way” blogging to share some family fun. In my first blog entry I expounded on the fact that I was sewing in “full” human scale making a Princess Leia costume for my gorgeous Daughter in Law. My son and DNL both work for Space Center Houston, my son in exhibits and my DNL in education. </span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:130%;"></span> </div><div align="left"><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5131211558824353186" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisGwtrVnt8UcPpeifuJDSc4SrJ8lpct0C01RLkwgtL8vzH7GUsFR8vQCM_lRfE6hffHVYzi9Eis5CbIEVN7jf1kccvusUrez7tOgYQ6A_xbF35KEw1yxhNWEetu8lG9zG_1UdASDvykLc/s320/IMG_6440%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" /><br />The last few months the education “Camps” were designed around a “Star Wars” theme. To cap off the series the finial event was a full blown costume party, Jack was Han Solo and Patricia, Princess Leia.<br />So finally weeks later Jack has sent me some of the pictures that I have been begging for. </span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:130%;"></span> </div><div align="left"><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5131211137917558162" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkeQT5YUNy9b2rQfkvT_Xb2KLAeoGcncCOmF8UvIpV7KnV9uyciyn0ERXSpLMYJQBSLuz1bYcbBxOoIdF6CG08mzfBsA-75rh9mHLazEG6j2LCJHpkJk3ZzayB7dT_GsGJFGiCxN6EPgU/s320/IMG_6435%5B1%5D.JPG" border="0" /><br />Jack came over every night the week before the party to work on his costume. He is soo000 very clever. See the “Blaster” he fashioned from spare parts he found in the garage. So some fun and fantasy in THIS challenge is just the ticket for me.<br />I want to say that this was a hard challenge to judge...(at home) I first went design by design and counted the pieces... 1 2 3 4 5.... Then.....next the criteria of “day to night –night to day.”.. la la la la... but in the end it boiled down to my “Like” and I liked Judith’s the best!!! Wow...... she did a wonderful job in all areas, by my judgment! And as a BIG plus....+++++ it was fun and had some very original thinking. Lucky also for her she was the only designer to choose “Red White and Very Blue” which for me made her a stand-out! (BTW...paint can purse...brilliant!)<br /><span style="font-size:130%;color:#ff0000;"></span></span><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5126196625569111698" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvSzRZIdZePvOw8x30ysEWKRh0SGHwjuqptzP1-d2w-ZGJUnCZ7wngoW9kydSbavW56NGF08uY8DElDzxt3HpojIfkscZibuvU7KS6R3V_y8uC3K8TciS9dZn1B_aDR4PS2CgeHDKHF9I/s400/ellowyne_judith_page.jpg" border="0" /><br /><span style="font-family:arial;color:#330033;"><span style="font-size:130%;color:#ff0000;">All of the designers did a wonderful job with a difficult challenge. I applauded them all...<br /><br /></span>Wow... some of the workmanship was amazing.<br /><strong>Kimberly’s </strong>jacket...perfection and I loved that blouse... remarkable detail on such a small scale.<br /><strong>Leigh</strong> did a outstanding job transforming from day to night and night to day.. and that little black sweater.... yummm..meeee. so detail and perfect!<br />I just loved <strong>Brenda’s</strong> Bohemian styling... (Sorry it was not styled correctly for you but actually I really liked the finial pic it had a very dressed up attitude to me.) The fabric choices were impeccable, love the colors and as always the accessories were to die for.<br />Again <strong>José</strong> never fails to come in on top by producing an outstanding design... beautiful tailoring and fit on the hound’s-tooth pants suite and the day to night transition is perfect. (I love citrine green)<br /><strong>Brandon .</strong>...sooooo much detail and the scale was just perfect!! Love the collar and sleeves on the blouse, I know how difficult it is to create such a look on a small scale and you did it! WOW... it did not matter one bit about the CAPE issue..<br /><strong>Andrea </strong>also achieved the defiant day to night aspect of the challenge and that wonderful hat certainly captured the essence of Ellowyne for me.<br /><strong>Mario and Gianni</strong> ... again love that blouse... wow... to me the hardest thing to do in doll wear is a blouse.. and you guys nailed it. Great use of color too..<br />Considering a lot to the designers choose to used “Nevermore” I was continually please to see a variety of color palettes use along with the black. <strong>Debbie’</strong>s deep plum skirt (yummy)<strong>Jose’s</strong> citrine underskirt, Karen’s Orange (love that color too) was risky but fun and <strong>Leigh’s</strong> soft lavender.... great variety.<br />A few designers missed the mark on the challenge criteria but still had a wonderful showing... all of the out fits were done to perfection. I think the construction over all was much more impressive than the last challenge. Well tailored, pressed, and the fit good.<br />I believe, and I think I said this last challenge... that it is most important for each designer to stay true to their personal design style. The twist is to configure your style to the challenge in a way that still says ... “Who are you Wearing?” </span>darlingdivadurellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15535551944193332511noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8623800063780554801.post-62000587274771811442007-10-26T21:12:00.000-07:002007-10-26T21:41:54.818-07:00Project Dollway "Red Carpet" Challenge<span style="font-family:arial;"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">Project Dollway is a fun new on line contest for OOAK fashion doll designers, which was developed to resemble the Project Runway TV show. Although I was not selected as a designer in the online contest I am participating in the “AT Home” challenges each week. I simply do not have the time to spend making doll clothes at this moment in time.... but I am finding it very rewarding to brush-up on my drawing skills and work my brain to meet the challenge requirements in the form of illustration. So for the most part I will be addressing each challenge in a drawing form.</span> <a href="http://www.projectdollway.com/MainPage.html">http://www.projectdollway.com/MainPage.html</a></span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;"><br /><br />The First challenge was using the Gene doll as a model. The challenge was to design for an event...not a personality. The question everyone asks at a red carpet event is ...”Who are you wearing?” <a href="http://www.projectdollway.com/Gene%20Challenge%20Main%20Page.html">http://www.projectdollway.com/Gene%20Challenge%20Main%20Page.html</a><br /><br />My approach was to go with my gut and make the color speak first to the challenge. I am an interior designer and I have access every day to what is hot it the home market and I have, as always, fallen in love with all of the newest fabrics which are coming out for the fall. Brown is the NEW black. So I knew chocolate would be the most appropriate for a formal red carpet event. Because I wanted to make a statement to WHO I, the designer, was and Lime green is my ”NEW” favorite color . Yummmmm.... that is a yummy combo of colors...so brown and citrine it is!<br />It is no secret that I also adore working with silk for my dolls. Nothing scales better and drapes more realistically than silk. I am a snob in this area. So I went to my fabric piles and pulled the yummiest of Citrine and the richest of chocolate to inspire my design.<br /><br /></span><span style="font-family:arial;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5125866114950782530" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikuN64bjCDxTbuwoVUGdfx4MdhMEm5VWLZqGeaSMbhcKJ8AQ1jZCxfdu02FLo0-0Gp8o171aRQaq1dgUonXkxnJWom6Dy6XfB_0CI-_8HY3UMbi52wJrcIr5rEIlJ4rmpOyT3wzWCivLI/s320/Drelle+Brown+red+carpet+fabrics2.jpg" border="0" /></span><br /></span><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaf1zOFRjiDL9Zm8c99aB8V1rYXDVOEmk1WltPasDn65DFV5PAUqMpATtDRU7F7l-UvSc1o1ZrKNxl7kiiL3_BKphMCXGh9i0Tnswt_6KhfwFKPqKlNIFX8Rz-FRRwYPHgzmfH_Lw0tfg/s1600-h/Drelle+Brown+red+carpet+back.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5125870233824419426" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaf1zOFRjiDL9Zm8c99aB8V1rYXDVOEmk1WltPasDn65DFV5PAUqMpATtDRU7F7l-UvSc1o1ZrKNxl7kiiL3_BKphMCXGh9i0Tnswt_6KhfwFKPqKlNIFX8Rz-FRRwYPHgzmfH_Lw0tfg/s320/Drelle+Brown+red+carpet+back.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><span style="font-family:arial;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLUI_IcqtzdvgrcLTveUK76onjCkX3Caj9eldxwNExv3VVDvUDQc38H3GsknDDMZNItjYievwKvwdkLUPek0v_v8e5GnpyBK25Hf2umcC_YFoE3XilBoFwNg9liLOFKerTooMuy-CYaug/s1600-h/Drelle+Brown+red+carpet+2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5125869885932068434" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLUI_IcqtzdvgrcLTveUK76onjCkX3Caj9eldxwNExv3VVDvUDQc38H3GsknDDMZNItjYievwKvwdkLUPek0v_v8e5GnpyBK25Hf2umcC_YFoE3XilBoFwNg9liLOFKerTooMuy-CYaug/s320/Drelle+Brown+red+carpet+2.jpg" border="0" /></a>My Instinct knew that the back of this gown was as important as the front. I wanted the front to look simple, yet unique, sort of Julia Roberts red carpet style. So I designed a tailored neck line with a deep cut and a empire waist. The back is then split to the hem at a slight angled and also shortened to expose more of the underskirt. The back split and hem is all banded a quarter inch with taffeta silk in citrine. The straps over the shoulders continue down the back into a deep “V”. The straps are very delicately pleated and are the same citrine silk.<br /><br />Under this over dress is a skirt made of doupionie silk in a rich citrine color. This skirt is created with a multitude of flat layered folds to craft a pleated effect. (I have pleated up a sample on my idea board to visualize the look) The back is somewhat longer to affect a small train but does not show in the front of the dress.<br /></p></span>darlingdivadurellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15535551944193332511noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8623800063780554801.post-27245737831835327052007-10-21T10:28:00.000-07:002007-10-26T21:46:59.109-07:00Sunday morning musing.....<div align="center"><a href="http://kay-dee.net/costumes/leia_cermonial/photos/kd_front2.jpg"><img style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://kay-dee.net/costumes/leia_cermonial/photos/kd_front2.jpg" border="0" /></a> <span style="font-family:arial;">Today is one of those rare days to just messing around and maybe make some soup. I am waiting on Jack and Patricia to come over. Yesterday I made a costume for Patricia, a Princess Leia ceremonial dress, for her to wear next weekend. </span></div><div align="center"><br /></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family:arial;">I still have to hem it and do the sheer cape.<br />So in the mean while I am plundering through my “Stuff”. ( This particular stuff is from IFDC last summer.) Because I now have 2 empty rooms (boys away at college)... I have moved a lot of my dolly stuff to one room which has a set of shelves. </span></div><div align="center"><br /><br /> </div><p align="center"><span style="font-family:arial;"></span></p><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5123847020249441874" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRpcIVcLZilPk4ql0Rcb68Bw6yxA1-Mv8XbaZlQHZ_lh2a1GR1cunMybt-AUz_QMK5rQnLuv_89VBy1fVXiOq1cSe6fphNAjthZc8OFM11e1LbRpNjqmretlHNBupqI1c_te-3ceanCnE/s400/DSCN6002.JPG" border="0" /> (clearly not my best photo work)<span style="font-family:arial;">After a long visit at my office I brought home my “Table Gift Dolls” and allocated a shelf JUST for them. I was missing the goodies that came with Brenda’s 60’s collection, but I knew where they were...in that “bag of IFDC goodies” that had not been sorted into proper storage.<br />And so it started.... don’t you hate when you get this really big mess out and then you HAVE to finish by finding a place for it all?<br />I keep getting stumbled up with “Playing” with things.<br />Like for instance ..... Table mate, Debbie, always gives us the neatest LITTLE goodies.... and “KITS” which include fun fabric collections, beads, ribbons and trims. I can never convince myself to break-up the set... and put the fabric with my other fabric... beads with bead... etc etc... To me it just must be kept together....</span><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5123848051041592930" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTDvyPzdH6IYTZSOdhlJK_G1401W6QIO2JNQHr_2CzXRCe2dM9hTZ1X8XWl4LiY4h9ZPUwz9FY42sVKqOB9e8cIWcn8NOqVZsXd9DQ4opc4VWClUjiKIpzSumloYZ__PuhCFLMuHPQ4Yk/s400/DSCN6003.JPG" border="0" /> (neat hmmm?)<br /><span style="font-family:arial;">I think I still have the wonderful set she made “Plum Blossom Café” 3 years ago. OK, weird I know... but that is the artiest in me... </span></p><p align="left"><span style="font-size:180%;color:#cc0000;"><strong>Now a Warning!!!!!</strong></span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;">And in regards to IFDC.... let me give you all a word of warning.....!!!!<br />Beware....of what you get off of the free-be table...yes there are little hidden monsters in that pile of “FREE” stuff...<br />As I was digging through the free-be piles I stuck my finger on a sharp “Tool”. This tool was a sculpting tool with a sharp knife like end and the other end was a scoop-y type tool. Well it got my attention when it attacked me but in my frenzy I had a quick thought, hmmm that could be nice.. soooo I took it ...(well it was free).<br />Remembering the attack I thought to put it in my suitcase in a safe place...one of those side pockets..<br />With out any additional thought of it when I got home and unloaded my goodies I missed removing it with the other fun stuff from convention. Days later when I was putting away my luggage I did one more check to make sure it was empty. Now like most luggage the inside of mine is black. So with my hand I did a blind search. Ya..ouch.... got me again... that bugger.!!! But undaunted once again I kept it, putting it in with my bag of goodies.<br />Fast forward to today... remember I am “sorting” well I find it again... but this time I have the upper hand..... I see it!! And I think to myself .. “Hmmmmm, that thing is of no use to me...I must get rid of it before it cuts me again.” So into the plastic bag I have assigned as trash t goes. OK... done right? </p><div align="left"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5123845615795136050" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9I7sNsUvBNBfiBftlIRJi0NbllrOXDsYDddGNl66pgrs0lndbAR49HUIMBzbHetBNnGJIQUOR-CfZesx6W1II1F7M3MJTwiJF5ujwTj44OtktQD2Z7MMLh9aQnKyGR9pTV50VLjA5kSI/s400/DSCN6001.JPG" border="0" /></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left">No.. after I am done sorting I clean up my mess and take the bag in hand to take out side.... that little monster pushes it way out of the bag on the side and pokes my leg... shish.... blood is dripping down my leg as I come in from tossing it out side in the trash... </span><span style="font-family:arial;"><br />Soooo.... just a little warning to my dolly buddies who enjoy a little free-be stuff... choose wisely!</span> </div><br /><br /><p></p><br /><br /><p></p><br /><br /><p></p><br /><br /><p></p>darlingdivadurellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15535551944193332511noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8623800063780554801.post-81899715307179911122007-06-08T05:55:00.000-07:002007-06-08T17:26:54.328-07:00Darling Diva Durelle<div align="left"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglJuvvpINbmPP4PagfiTD075DMAW59bdDeQG3AH7c-CccHkYTmuE2sn9AhhTry5ImGDY0leSPHRjd2b5rSKCi8bxGsckBMHyBMSc_3WIb_2sHT8yRla68tVN19slLO1emHVqpEyBoH4tY/s1600-h/me+and+my+dolls.jpg"></a><br /></div><strong><span style="color:#cc0000;"></span></strong><div align="left"><br /><a href="http://demi-divasbydurelle.50megs.com/index.html"><span style="font-family:arial;">http://demi-divasbydurelle.50megs.com/index.html</span></a></div><br /><br /><div align="center"></div>darlingdivadurellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15535551944193332511noreply@blogger.com2
